Timeline of the Russian Federation military intervention into Autonomus Republic of Crimea The last couple of days saw separate cases of troops of the Russian Federation introduced onto the territory of the Autonomus Republic of Crimea. This activity constitutes a flagrant breach of international regulations and agreements. Thus, on 28 February 2014 at 08:45 EET the Cape Takil technical observation post registered 10 combat helicopters crossing the Ukrainian border from the side of the Rissian Federation. 3 helicopters (two military helicopters KA-27 and one MI-12) landed at the Kacha airport and went through the border guard and customs clearance properly in line with the earlier application. The rest of the helicopters landed in the vicinity of the airport. When asked by the senior officer of the border patrol unit to register in line with the set procedure these helicopters that arrived to the territory of Ukraine breaching the set agreements and without prior applications, the only answer was silence. The senior officer of the Ukrainian State Boarder Guard unit filed the case of violation of state borders of Ukraine by the aforementioned helicopters. On February 28th, 8 Russian Federation IL-76 airlifters landed at Gvardeyskiy airfield (Russian Federation airbase located in Crimea). Despite provisions of the treaty between countries governing Russian Federation military presence in Ukraine, Russian Federation did not submit an application informing Ukraine about their arrival. Ukrainian border control troops were denied access to the aircraft and told that there could be subsequent landings as often as every 15 minutes henceforth. On March 1st, the Russian parliament unanimously granted President Vladimir Putin the authority to use military force in Ukraine. On March 1st, 21:00 EET: Landing ships Kaliningrad and Minsk (Russian Federation Baltic fleet) entered Sevastopol marina (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ropucha-class_landing_ship). On March 2nd: Landing ships Olenegorskiy Gornyak (Russian Federation North fleet) and Georgiy Pobedonosets (Russian Federation Baltic fleet) arrived to Sevastopol. The aforementioned ships violated article 30 of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and Items 14 and 15 of the Rules of navigation and stay in closed sea, inland waters, at anchorage and ports of Ukraine for foreign war ships, as approved by Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Order No.529 dd. 16 May 1996, as well as without authorisation from the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
