Tino Best and Shoaib Malik were slapped with fines for an on-field altercation during the match between Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Zouks on July 23. While Best was charged with 10% and 50% of his match fee for breaching two clauses, Malik was charged with 50% of his match fee. The incident happened in the 15th over of Tridents innings after Best had Malik out bowled for 49. The two players argued mid-pitch, with Malik placing his hands on the bowlers shoulder. Bests offences included conduct that either (a) is contrary to the spirit of the game; or (b) brings the game into disrepute, a level- one offence and using language or a gesture(s) that is seriously obscene, seriously offensive or of a seriously insulting nature to another player, a level-two offence. Shoaib Maliks offence related to inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players. Both players pleaded guilty. The CPL management is also investigating another incident after the match at the team hotel involving the same players. The incident, a tournament release said, was minor and no one was injured. © ESPN Sports Media Ltd.
