Tiny Johnson’s rolled biscuits ¼ cup vegetable shortening or solid bacon dripping 2 cups Self-rising flour 1 cup Milk (Regular or butter milk) ¼ tsp salt Making dough In a large bowl combine flour and salt, whisk together to combine. Next cut in shortening with the tips of your fingers, it should look like bread crumbs when you are finished. Make a small well in the middle of the mixture. Add milk and mix to make dough. Turn out the dough on to a floured surface, and knead lightly till it comes together to form a ball. (Be care not to over knead, biscuits will be tough) Forming biscuits Form in to a single ball and cut in to eights. Roll each wedge in to a ball, and roll in some of the residual flour on the surface. Cooking Preheat oven to 400 degrees and put an 8inch cast iron pan on high heat on one of the burners. Fill with about a half inch of cooking oil. Drop biscuits in to the hot oil and let fry or a few minutes. Place in oven and bake until golden brown and delicious
