Tip for the day (a continutation of using the big stopper from a few weeks ago). Started experimenting using the B+W 3.0 ND 10 stop filter to photograph the moving cloud effect. Im really liking it. I like the way long exposures change the colors. I find the photographs... Moving... (pun intended) :). Items youll need are: ND 10 stop, remote trigger for bulb setting, tripod, exposure calculater app, imagination. Shoot me a PM or post questions here if you have any. Below is the short and sweet version: 1. Set up camera on tripod. 2. Compose without the filter. 10 stop filters are almost opaque. 3. Do your settings in manual mode. remember the lower the iso and smaller the aperture, the longer the exposure needed. 4. Note down your settings and put it in the Exposure Calculater app on your phone (its free); add +10 stop in the app and the app will come up with new settings. 5. Screw in ND filter. 6. Put camera setting to Bulb. Trigger the camera using wired remote trigger. 7. Camera will display exposure counter in seconds. 8. Unpress trigger when counter reaches what the app recommended.
