Tip of the Day: Be the person employers want to hire. What values and attitudes can emphasize in your cover letter and resume to help you get the job? • Showing a history of attendance and consistency. Being there more than the other guy. • Being dependable and responsible, invaluable and irreplaceable. • Knowing the company’s bottom line and how you can impact it. • Understanding your value to the company. They want to hire you for a reason greater than you’re a warm body. Learn how or where you can fit in and point that out to the hiring agent. Finally, always be prepared to go the extra mile. There are many times when you will have an opportunity to take initiative and help a customer, co-worker or your boss. If you consistently take advantage of these opportunities, you’ll make yourself indispensable. The basic rule of thumb is: be the kind of person you would hire and keep, and you will increase the likelihood of being the person who gets the job.
