Tip of the day... My first dog, Koko, was purchased from a professional breeder. He is so beautiful, he stops traffic quite often. On one of our walks an older man stopped us an said that he saw me often walking my dog. He said, I bet you only take your dog for walks to show it off. I know he did not mean any harm by his comment, but I really felt bad. His comment made me feel as though I only liked my dog for he is beautiful. I felt as a very superficial person. Then, I realized that the reason I felt bad was because there was some truth in his comment. Later, I met Jessie a Mutt Chihuahua. He is the ugliest doggie I have ever seen yet he is so loving. Before Jessie, I would have never considered having a dog like that for the reasons stated above. I was a superficial person! I only cared about looks. However, Jessie is so special. He can totally sense when I am feeling blue and comes to kiss my face every time. It is been four years since I adopted him, and I do not regret it one bit. Since then, I became a big pro for adopting/rescuing a dog. The following passage is from a book named ... Little Dogs. Dogs are among the most resilient creatures on earth. When you see an abandoned, neglected, or even abused dog learn to trust, it will make your heart sing. When you see a fearful dog choose to be brave, you will be inspired. These dogs may need special time and patience, but isnt that what our relationships with our dogs are all about? If we were practical people, wed only have dogs to herd our sheep or hunt for our food. Instead, we choose to have small dogs because they epitomize the relationship, rapport, and love that exist in that magical bond between humans and dogs.
