Title - Liquid Flora Inspiration - I was at the botanical gardens and saw the cherries dropping their blossoms into the pond underneath only to then find the beautiful fabric that i made my skirt from at the arts store. Materials - Metal coat hanger - Scrap plastic from a photo frame donated to me by Vladimir Barski that he picked up on a hard waste collection day. - Nail polish - Taxidermy plastic - Chrome spray paint - Hot glue gun - Scissors - Flower tool with a ball end Method - I was given my plastic and found it it was very brittle and cooled rapidly. I gently heated it and cut out a disc shape. - Using the hot gun I let the plastic wrap itself and burn through holes so at to look like bubbles on the surface of the water. - It was sprayed with Chrome silver. - Using the taxidermy plastic i drew out and cut out almost 100 little blossoms. I used the colours in the fabric I found to match with nail polishes and imitated the pattern onto the plastic blossoms moulding them gentle with a flower tool. - I arranged the blossoms onto my hat with hot glue gun. - The headband I formed from a coat hanger and covered it with blossoms attaching it with glue. - held in place with my bun and a couple of bobby pins, as i had formed it over my own head while it cooled it hugged my head with ease. - With pride wore it to the Millinery Awards at Crown Oaks Day, Melbourne.
