Title Fight goes down to the line at Three Springs The upcoming season ender at Three Springs is set to be an absolute cracker. Returning to what many deem as the best race track in the series, competitors have it all to play for with several class championships as well as the outright title are still on the line. With some of the best spectator areas, catering, bar and camping facilities as well as the footy grand final to be televised live, the Pirtek Three Springs 330 is one event not to be missed! In the outright battle it has come down to a three horse race, with Jared Percival, Shane Elphinstone and Brad Cooper all with a chance to win. For young gun Jared the equation is simple, victory in the gruelling 330km event would seal the outright championship and cap what has been a giant killing run for the prolite driver. However if Shane Elphinstone were to take victory in the #44 Pro buggy he would steal the championship by just 2 points! Brad Cooper is the only other driver with a mathematical chance and would require a win, coupled with Elphinstone finishing 2nd or worse (Cooper to win on countback) and would also need Percival to finish 4th or worse. But look out for several other competitors looking to spoil the party, Cochrane, Phillips, Payne, Schoen and Swain all have shown the pace throughout the year to take an outright win. The Pro buggy class championship will come down to Elphinstone and Cooper. Victory in all 3 sections would see Elphinstone take the championship, with Cooper looking to defend his slender lead. Prolite class has already been sewn up by Jared Percival, as has Production 4wd by Chris Dawes in the roadrunner off road patrol. Owen Davies has all but locked up Extreme 4wd, Brad Krepp being the only competitor able to take the championship off Owen, but would require a massive result in his favour to do it. Extreme 2wd will be a straight shootout between Wayne Panomarenko in the PGS Industries Protruck and Darryl Hardman in the Desert Sweet Bananas Pro Truck, the winner on the weekend taking the class win. Super 1650 is the most open class battle, with any of 9 drivers with a mathematical chance to seal the class championship. Charlie Edwards is in the box seat currently leading the class, with Bob Dark, Rod Barton Joe Hawkins, Nathaniel Edwards, John Flynn, Jeremy Lia and Dave and Alex Cowan hot on his heels. Whilst all the class fights for the championship are going on, there are also several new vehicles and competitors returning to the series. Some of these vehicles rumoured to be entering are a new pro buggy, extreme 2wd truck and also a high powered diesel patrol set to spice things up amongst the classes. To help showcase the event Ruff Road Media will be covering the race and are hopeful of putting on a live broadcast of the event, a first for the Western Australian Off Road Racing Championship. The event will consist of 6 laps of a 55km track split into 3 sections over September 27th and 28th and details can be found at offroadracing.au or westerndesertracers
