To Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Leader of the Islamic State and our brothers in Islam – Asalamo alaikum wa rahmatullaah wa barakatahu youtu.be/qftTf0itVm4 I make this statement on behalf of Muslims in Britain and fellow convoy members who travelled from the UK to help provide medical and emergency aid, including blankets, food parcels and ambulances to our brothers and sisters in Syria. Your prisoner Alan Henning travelled with us several times to Syria. On all occasions, we - your Muslim brothers and sisters - brought him with us under our care and our protection. We did not fear entering Syria and neither did Alan. He felt safe, relaxed and happy; believing- as we did, that no harm could come to him whilst he was in a place under your care and when he was there to help deliver much needed aid to our brothers and sisters. Alan was so moved by the suffering of the Syrian people, in particular the children, that he devoted all his free time to raising money and awareness about their suffering. He washed cars to raise money, he collected aid, he talked to everyone he met about crimes committed against innocent Muslims inside Syria. In December last year he missed Christmas with HIS family to help the families of OUR brothers and sisters. Subhanallah, we all remember one night on the journey to Syria, some of the brothers, were tired and decided to sleep in a hotel. He did not – he slept in the van because he felt he could not spend money on himself that could be spent on our brothers and sisters. This is the kind of man Alan is. He is a good man. Like you and like us, his only interest was helping to relieve the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Syria. Please do not take his life to pay for the crimes that international governments have committed. Alan ignored the advice of his government- of David Camerons government -and took the risk to travel to Syria to help the Syrian people. We grieve every day about our innocent brothers and sisters being killed in the international air strikes but this man is innocent of those crimes. He has no affiliation to any political agenda. He has shown through his actions and his love and concern for our brothers and sisters that he is not an enemy of Islam or the Islamic State. We plead with you to show him compassion and mercy - as he showed compassion and care for innocent Muslims. Allah swt has given you an honourable position in that you have the ability to save the life of an innocent man- we beg of you to tread the path of justice and show him the compassion that Allah swt has placed in the hearts of the believers- in your heart. We promised Alan safety and security as Muslims and ask you as Leader of the Islamic State to honour our amanah and fulfil our promise to him and us. Please show the world how merciful Muslims are. Please release him.
