To All Media Outlets 8/29/2014 FASTRAK PR Corporate Office, Carnesville GA; Compton tackles Beckley Motor Speedway $3,000 payday in FASTRAK’s wild return to the 3/8th mile (PROSPERITY, WEST VIRGINIA) – “The Best of the Best” in pro late model racing will now compete on three different racing venues in three exciting nights of racing beginning August 29th-August 31st. Over $40,000 in Purse, Contingencies and Lap Money is up for grabs in this “EPIC” racing weekend for the FASTRAK Racing Series “elite” entitled the 11th Annual PRO Late Model Nationals. The hype and optimism was at capacity overload at Beckley Motor Speedway the 3/8th mile ran by Rick and Deborah Strattis as the faithful fans packed the grandstands, pits, skyboxes etc. to see the return of the FASTRAK Racing Series National Tour since being there in October 2013 at the World Championships. Thirty Five of “FASTRAK’S Elite” signed in for night #1 of the 11th Annual $40,000 PRO Late Model Nationals. Everyone in attendance was ready to see their favorite weekly regulars take on the national stars for 40 exciting laps. At night’s end it was another true show proving why FASTRAK and BECKLEY offer great excitement. In conclusion #10 “K-C” Kennie Compton from Bland, Virginia would take the $3,000 payday at Beckley. After Hot Laps it was time for VP Race for the Pole qualifying/ Right Way Auto putting up a $100 bonus to the quick time put up in group qualifying. #33 Chris Meadows a hometown favorite lit up the board with a 14.793 second time. This was a national event format for the Randy Thurman Memorial Race so all competitors had to go thru 4 heats and 2 b- main consi’s to lock in the 24 spots. Heat races and Consi’s we’re wild and intense in every word as driver’s jockeyed for trying to climb the ladder and lock in an opportunity to be in a good starting spot to battle for the $3,00 top prize. Listed below are the heat race winners, b-main consi winners and provisional drivers: VP Race Fuels Heat 1 - #2 Dennis Franklin, RockAuto Heat 2 - #10 Kennie Compton, Hoosier Race Tires Heat 3 - #A1 Tim Dohm, TNT Race Cars Heat 4 - #33 Chris Meadows Rocket Chassis B-Main 1 - #23 Derek Rogers and Arizona Sport Shirts B-Main 2 - #6T Nick Dohm FASTRAK Beckley, WV Provisional’s - #77 Joel Prosser and #23 Corey Gordon After the 4 wide salute and the excitement building with a roaring crescendo from the Beckley Faithful it was go time for $3,000 to win and the Randy Thurman Memorial Night #1 of the 11th Annual PRO Late Model Nationals was underway. The quest for the also FASTRAK PLM Nationals Championship 14k Gold Ring was up for the taking also having the most mini-series points at weekends end. The racing was fast and furious with 4-5 wide yes 5 wide racing the first couple of circuits. Franklin who won the pole from taking heat one tried to jump out to the front but quickly Compton was able to use the outside lane bouncing off the wall and times and take the top spot. Compton was in a war trying to hold off Franklin but also Meadows, Tim Dohm all within distance and ready to strike. The 1st caution would come out on lap #2 when David Smith 3-Time defending champion and current point’s leader would spin solo off turn four. Multi car incidents would take place from laps 2-4 with #4 Eric Bennett, #99 Rick Solari, #45 Eddie Hambrick, #18 Salango, #25 Johnson all being involved in some shape or form but continuing along. The BIG ONE would happen on a restart on Lap #5 involving 8 cars taking out many from the outcome. All the while Compton was hanging on to the lead using the top shelf; sometimes bouncing the rear spoiler off the wall with sparks a glare but never making a mistake or losing the handle. Franklin, Meadows, Dohm and #25 Matt Long, #12 Rick Williams all rallied back and forth 3-4 wide for position. Another caution would come out late in the race on lap 36 setting up a 4 lap shootout for the victory. Caution fell after incident with #68 Tyler Cox and #23 Derek Rogers. The stage was set for a monster explosion between the top 5 and other drivers like #28 Aaron Barley, #8 Ron Parker, #23 Rogers and even David Smith in his #71 TNT chassis rallied back in the Top 10 to contend for the win, that was if “K-C” would let them?? On the final restart in front of the crowd on their feet, Franklin made a daring banzai move to the inside to get along side Compton and was able to pull door to door off turn 2. However with everyone on behind Franklin on his heels, Compton would take it top side again and all the way to the checkers as they field would race to the checkers and caution at full speed when #23 Corey Gordon spun smoking heavily off turn 2 on the white flag. Series Director felt Gordon was not completely blocking the track for the rest of the field and let the race was to the checkers.
