As part of the efforts to strengthen communication and social networking between and among our members, both past and present, the following facebook page has been created for ZMCA. https://facebook/ZMCAOfficial We would encourage members to visit and connect to the above web link and also contribute to the discussions and sharing of resources, art, literary and cultural contributions for the web blog based on the spirit of mutual respect and recognition. It will be a moderated site to ensure harmony and avoid any possible misuse by non-members. The Executive Committee is interested in bringing out a souvenir/annual report for 2013-2014 based on literary contributions/photos and relevant resources from members. We would also like to bring out a “narrative history” of ZMCA with achievements, memorable events, personal memories, highlights and low lights of the last three decades, if the veteran members of the Association are able to provide the required information. The Executive Committee has decided to celebrate the Onam festival on Sunday, 22nd September, 2013 at Hindu Hall, Lusaka. The celebration consists of felicitations, cultural programmes followed by traditional Onam Lunch. We seek your usual and enhanced co-operation in making this event a memorable one. Members interested in taking part or presenting brief cultural items, befitting to the spirit of Onam, you are requested to contact the Cultural Secretary Mr. Dhanoop Warrier (Appu- cell: 0974775271, dhanoopan@gmail) in advance. Further, those who are interested in participating in cultural events such as Onappattu, Thiruvathira dance, etc are requested to plan for the traditional costume in advance in consultation with the Cultural Secretary/item co-ordinator. As has been the practice, we would request members visiting Kerala and returning before the event to bring small quantities (500 gram) of papadum, salted banana chips, sharkara varatti (and plastic banana leaves if possible) on an voluntary basis and handover to the Committee. Please confirm this contribution possibly in advance to Mr Satheesh Thankavelu, the Onam food committee coordinator (0950230246, 0973010964, satheeshthankavelu@gmail) Based on the existing cost of goods and services in Zambia, the Executive Committee has decided to collect the membership subscription and sell Onam lunch coupons, as given below: 1) Membership Subscription: KR. 120.00 per family KR. 60.00 per single member 2) Onam Lunch: KR. 140.00 per family KR. 100.0 per Couple KR. 60.00 per single member Limited number of guest coupons will be available for K. 60,000.0 per person, which has to be purchased or booked with the Executive Committee members at least 3 days prior to the event to cater for the food etc. The annual membership subscription can either be paid in advance to the Treasurer (Mr. Sajji George cell: 0978052251, 0969702251 ) or on Onam day along with the purchase of lunch coupons. Please advise the Executive Committee members the contact details of any new Malayalee community members who have not joined the Association as we wish to extend a warm welcome for them to join the Association.
