To All: NJSPCA investigates over 5000 case of animal cruelty every year here in New Jersey. As most of you know the NJSPCA receives NO funding from the state of New Jersey nor do we receive funding from the municipalities. Our funding comes from donations and the fines we receive in court. NJSPCA Officers appear in Court often after charges are filed for animal cruelty. Here is an example of a day in court from one of our Officers today.....giving you an inside look at what we go through day in and day out in the court system ............On 02/10/2014 at 09:00 hours, Newark Municipal Court presiding Judge Roslyn Holmes-Grant found the defendant Nihree Walker guilty of Leaving the Living Animal Unattended in a vehicle Under Inhumane Conditions. The Civil summons fine of $500 with $100 restitution and the Criminal summons dismissed. On 02/10/2014 at 09:00 hours, Newark Municipal Court presiding Judge Roslyn Holmes-Grant found the defendant Servio Briones-Abad guilty of Failure to Provide an Animal with Necessary Care (Proper Shelter). The Civil summons fine of $500 with $100 restitution and the Criminal summons dismissed. On 02/10/2014 at 09:00 hours, Newark Municipal Court presiding Judge Roslyn Holmes-Grant issued a WARRANT for the defendant Wilton Jose Rodriguez for failure to appear. On 02/10/2014 at 09:00 hours, Newark Municipal Court presiding Judge Roslyn Holmes-Grant issued a WARRANT for the defendant Gina Donnelly for failure to appear. On 02/10/2014 at 09:00 hours, Newark Municipal Court presiding Judge Roslyn Holmes-Grant wanted an adjournment to get the defendant Adrian Ofarrill Veterinarian Records. On 02/10/2014 at 09:00 hours, Newark Municipal Court presiding Judge Roslyn Holmes-Grant wanted an adjournment to get the defendant Daisy Dossantos Veterinarian Records. Wanted to share just a glimpse of the everyday Court appearance side of what we do after animal cruelty charges are filed. The two adjournments are actually positive moves as the Vet Reports will solidify our charges in these two cases. Capt
