To All Oconee County Citizens: We have been reminded by Animal Control that they do not respond to complaints of wild animals, such as skunks, snakes, rabbits, squirrels, racoons, possums, armadillos, giraffes, hippos, alligators, rhinos, leopards, cougars (the wildlife, not the ones in the bar smoking Virginia Slims and drinking white wine spritzers). Animal control responds to complaints of what we would traditionally call pets, such as dogs and cats. There are several locally available wildlife removal companies. They are free to post their services on our FB page, but the Sheriffs Office can not be in the position of recommending one over another. We do have snake sticks available at the Sheriffs Office if the need requires the immediate use. However, our only option is to destroy the animal. Removal experts may have other tools at their disposal.
