To Change or Not To Change? Micky Cohen, a infamous gangster of the past generation, said that after he accepted Christianity, he felt betrayed. No One had explained that God would also require a change in his behavior. There are Christian athletes and Christian businessmen. So Why not Christian Gangsters? he reasoned. But when we accept Jesus the Christ as our Savior and Lord, we are no longer free to continue living as we did in the world. Instead, Our affections and activities MUST CHANGE, to Reflect the God whom we serve. The term Christian Gangster contradicts itself because the Activities of a gangster mostly oppose the character of Christ. Romans 6:1-8 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized (with the Holy Spirit) into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died is freed from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, Remember we were not called to be like others who profess to be Christians, we, as Born Again Believers, were called to be like Jesus the Christ. Romans 8:1-10 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk (Live) according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, 7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, 8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 10 If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. Romans 8:29 For those whom He (God) foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; So the question of Change must be answered each day as you follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, out of the Love in your heart. You are being Changed/Conformed to the image or likeness of Jesus the Christ. It is not a question of change, it is a question of Love. The Holy Spirit pours out the Love of God into your heart, for God first and for all others second. Because after you are Born Again, and you will allow the Holy Spirit to change your life, you will Love God and Love people. If this does not happen, then you need to make sure of your Salvation..... 1 Thessalonians 3:12 and may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another, and for all people, just as we also do for you; https://youtube/watch?v=meA1er1fXks
