To Irina Worthey, a/k/a Ira Berman: My name is Gleb Glinka, an attorney and former Director of the American Bar Association office in Moscow, Russia, where I have been residing with my wife, the well-known philanthropist, Elizabeth Glinka. We have never met you, had any dealings with you, indeed, had never heard of you until recently, when you began a vicious, mendacious, unprovoked public smear campaign in social networks like Facebook and Twitter intended to harass, vilify, and hurt my family and me. In the past few weeks, you have published or re-published various false accusations against us, claiming that we are engaged in criminal activity, of which you have uncovered an anthill. Among other false and vile allegations, you have claimed that we are con artists, that we fled to Russia to escape prosecution for tax fraud, and that we profited from some unspecified hospice scam. You have also suggested that I have been practicing law without a license and that my wife Elizabeth, who is evidently your prime target, has falsified her medical credentials and, moreover, is anti-Semitic. You or a cohort have even threatened to “visit” my son, Constantine, who, as you discovered, lives north of you in Portland, Oregon. If you have evidence of illegal activities on our part, as of course you do not, then your recourse is to alert the authorities–such as the prosecutor’s office, the tax department, or the bar association–not to broadcast these falsehoods in hopes that some of this dirt might stick. The nefarious and hurtful falsehoods that you have been spreading are not protected speech and represent an unlawful, actionable campaign of defamation, harassment, cyber-stalking, invasion of privacy, and damage to reputation. I suggest you contact legal counsel and cease this campaign of vilification at once. If you do not, I will take all legal measures available to me to protect my family, including filing a lawsuit against you for damages and declaratory relief, and joining your employer, XXXXXXXXXXX, whose IP address you have used in furtherance of your defamatory crusade.
