To Learn To Achieve The Academy is situated on the edge of Desford Village, overlooking open countryside. We have the full range of facilities including a recently refurbished Library (The Compass), Sports Hall, Assembly Hall, Gym, Drama and Music Studios, Sports Dome, Swimming pool, Science Laboratories, Design Workshop and ICT Suites; plus a number of refurbished classrooms and a purpose built Maths Block. All curriculum areas have specialist teaching areas. The school opened, as Bosworth Community College, in Desford in 1969, replacing the former Grammar School at Market Bosworth. In 2003, the College was designated as a Specialist Sports College. The school became an Academy on April 1st 2012, having previously been a Leicestershire Upper School and Community College. Bosworth Academy is a mixed comprehensive Upper School catering for the 14-19 age range. At present entry is by transfer at 14+ from three contributory 11-14 high schools: Winstanley, Market Bosworth and South Charnwood. The current roll is 1312 students including 415 in Post 16. We have the benefit of a very rich, diverse catchment area stretching from the Warwickshire border to the outskirts of Leicester. Many students also join us from beyond our immediate cathment. 90% of our students arrive by bus. In September 2014 the Academy will change from a 14-19 school to an 11-19 school. We will be admitting pupils at year 7 along with our traditional year 10 intake. The school was last inspected in November 2010 and was judged as ‘Good with Outstanding Features’. The Academy is now focussed on gaining ‘Outstanding’ at the next inspection. #To Learn To Achieve
