To, The Punjab ombudsman, Lahore. Subject: complaint against the security staff of civil secretariat, Lahore Respected sir, We are writing this letter due to an unfortunate incident which we had to face yesterday while entering the civil secretariat, Lahore building. We are the graduates of King Edward Medical University, Lahore. We went to civil secretariat in order to talk to health secretary regarding the issue of lack of paid Post Graduate training slots in mayo hospital and other newly affiliated hospitals of KEMU. Our group comprised of 14 doctors of which 9 were females. We were under the impression that civil secretariat is for the wellbeing of public and open to all. We just tried to enter, when the security staff at the gate stopped us from going any further and asked us to stand and wait outside the gate on the road. Their behavior towards us was utterly disrespectful especially to the lady doctors. Luckily for us the media came to the rescue and seeing this, the security personnels changed their attitude and let us go to meet the health secretary. Later police came and escorted us everywhere we went as we were a “danger” in the premises. This is in discordance to the rights of a respectful citizen. We strongly request you to please address this issue and take appropriate measures to change the policy regarding the rules and conduct of the staff towards the citizens wanting to go to the government officials for their various issues so that such event is not repeated in the future and the general public is saved from the mental torture and disgrace.
