To UUs: who recalls the GA in Phoenix in (late 90s?) when in the opening plenary a leader was attempting to demonstrate the theological diversity among those in attendance...s/he called out various theologies and asked people to stand and represent, people cheered each time as little pockets of people stood. Then it was over and s/he attempted to move on. But what happened next was quite remarkable. Someone in the crowd shouted, What about the humanists?! Oh, I forgot the humanists, the leader says sheepishly, Stand if you are a humanist! And thats when 75% of the attendees got to their feet.
