To accept US propaganda about socialist countries, you have to believe the most outlandish of conspiracies. That almost every photo of them snapped by tourists has been staged or doctored. That they doubled life expectancy while killing half their populations, without leaving any physical or documentary trace. That Nazi newspapers speak more truth about the USSR than their own internal records. That these countries, apparently loathed by every member of their populace, who were also encircled, sanctioned, and subverted by Western forces, inexplicably lasted for generations. That every single election has been a fraud. That every citizen has been brainwashed to lie about their circumstances. That single, totalitarian leaders successfully dictated and micromanaged barely industrialized societies. That nobody in their prisons actually committed any other crimes than sneezing in a leaders general direction, or whatever. In a word, you must believe that impoverished countries with largely illiterate populations pulled off the greatest ruse in world history. To reject US propaganda about socialist countries, you have to believe one thing. That states with antagonistic interests will use their media apparatuses to weave fabrications about each other.
