To add some colour to the terrible stories and status today around the #MartinPlaceSiege, Id like to share my experience being in Sydney. I was at the Intercon at Double Bay at lunchtime and at 2pm there were no UberX, Uber Blacks or even Taxis (god forbid) on the road. I walked over to Knox St cab rank just as a cab was pulling up. As I walked up, two gorgeous dolled up women in their 90s did the same. The cab had been booked for them. I opened the door for one to get in. Lady one (lets call her Margaret) said Where are you off to young man? Im going to Redfern (Margaret then looked like she tasted an off oyster) Well we are going to Darling Point, you can share a cab with us and then take it on Redfern (cue the oyster face), with all this nonsense going on in the city youll never get to where your going So Margaret, in the back with me and her friend (Daphne*) in the front had a lovely drive. Daphnes references to tea towels and the labour government letting them all in aside, I enjoyed a good lol and a potpourri scented ride home.
