To all NYCDOE Educators who retired between 2009 and 2014. The - TopicsExpress

To all NYCDOE Educators who retired between 2009 and 2014. The promise of this recent contract with all its hoopla stated that both already retired teachers and those retiring by June 30th 2014 would receive ALL their retroactive going back towards 2009. Also promised was that retirement allowances would be recalculated. Neither has happened other than the fact that the 180 million set aside for this purpose is not enough. It was stated that the UFT and the city would meet at the end of September to work this out. Work this out? Huh? What is there to work out? At least 1,000 more teachers than usual chose to retire this past June; many under the guise that they would be the first to receive their retroactive monies in ONE lump sum. This is an outrage and a straight answer needs to be given. Current in service employees on their September 30th paychecks have received adjusted salaries that reflect contract increases and retroactive monies pay due to them. On behalf of all the retirees who were still employed after the previous contract expired and to those who retired this past June, What the hell is going on ?, MOA and plenty of retired educators have the right to an explanation. Feel free to comment.
