To all club members: At SHC we have one of the best hockey newsletters around which is emailed to all registered members each week. We also need to supply the local press with copy as early as Monday morning in order to get the coverage we need. Therefore we need match reports writing and sent to Andy Pettigrew who will do the rest of the work. The mens team captains have been asked to appoint a press secretary in each team whose sole responsibility will be to ensure one gets written each week. They needn’t write it themselves but must ensure whoever has been given the task completes it and forwards it to Andy by 9am Monday. A job for DOD or for the top scorer. That way they can ensure their goals are described in the most intricate of detail with appropriate adjectives, adverbs, simile and metaphor. Just 300 words (this post is 153 words up to the brackets -50% done -which proves it’s not much to write). This can be done on a phone during the journey home or whilst sat in the bar whilst eating or having a beer. It should be factual, include full names rather than nicknames and make no comment on the standard of umpiring. It should also try and avoid in jokes that are of no interest to other club members. For sure, include amusing anecdotes but without the use of foul language or insults to players from either side. Why not the captain? (Good use of rhetorical question - a device used to engage the reader)Well they are already busy people, making sure you get your game each week. Please help them out. Not much to ask but will allow Andy to produce a much fuller picture of the clubs weekly achievements. (That was exactly 300 words up to the brackets).
