To all my colleagues and friends around the globe: I have been in seafood business as trader and processor since 1991 selling and buying seaproducts around the world. By boycotting Faroese mackarel and herring for transshipments even in Free-ports like Klaipeda and Rotterdam, stops all sales of these two species in question for both Eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia, which are the main markets. EU-customers are also affected by this ban. As a Faroese exporter ,I did not expect at anytime to be categorized in same group as Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and Namibia and South Africa in the 80`ies, just due to some disagreements between EU/Norway and the the Faroes about some fish stocks, that has been in our waters for centuries I must qoute a Norwegian politician, that asked the MPs in Stortinget, why all the Norwegian neighbours were fighting Norway except Finland. The answer was, that all neighbours except Finland understood Norwegian language. It is unbelievable, that Norwegian pelagic industry, that is in the hands of some few owners, can rule EU in this matter. Even Bureau Veritas in Norway suspended the MSC on Faroese herring, but it same herring was caught in Norwegian waters, the fishery would be fully sustainable. This is legalized mafia, shooting sparrows with canoons. No winners, only loosers.
