To all my dear friends that are probably wondering what its like here in Brazil after yesterdays game: This isnt our first rodeo, we have lost other games that hurt more, versus Italy in 82 comes to mind, immediately. Versus France in PKs in 86 is another one. Last night, once we got past 2-0, it got easier and easier to handle. I was also at my brothers house four years ago when we lost to the Netherlands and I was sitting on the beach twelve years ago in the early morning when we beat Germany in Japan. The second half of the game was a Brazilian Wake. A family member had died, but we were still drinking, even if half heartedly. For me, sports is about who gets to party. Last night Berlin partied, Brazil went into mourning. Today the sun is up, Postinho Beach is smooth with nice little waves two-three feet. We had a cold front roll through yesterday, which has made today clean and fresh after the storm. I am on vacation, am about to go out for my morning walk from Postinho to Barramares, with short sprints where the valas have eaten up the wet sand and the waves are breaking against little sand walls. I send my love to all / any of you that thought of me, my family and friends yesterday as Brazil was destroyed by the Germans. You know me, Ive always said there can be only one and never really like to discuss Brazilian favoritism in the world cup. Let this be a lesson to any that think anyone is ever a favorite, there can be only one and the ball is round. Anything can happen. Big hugs. Talk to you soon.
