To all my dog owner friends and those of you that I may be considering getting a dog I cannot stress enough how awful it is to keep your dog on a lead or chain all day while youre at work or all the time because you dont want your dog in the house. You think youre doing a good thing because you have them tied up so they cant wander away and get hit by a car but what really happens is that they break off the lead and because theres no other barrier between them and the roadway they run and they get hit by a car. Unless you have a fence or wall or some other barrier should not leave your dog on a chain or lead they can still get away then they are defenseless against traffic that theyre probably not accustomed to because theyve never been walked regularly or trained to walk across the street safely.Today I saw yet another poor dog that had been hit by a car because he broke off his lead and ran away from the house that was alongside the highway and ran out onto Route 85 and was hit by a car, still laying on the side of the road with his lead still tangled up all around his body. It breaks my heart
