Below is an, exert from the Scleroderma Australia website. “Scleroderma or systemic sclerosis, is a chronic connective tissue disease generally classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases. Scleroderma can cause serious damage to internal organs including the lungs, heart, kidneys, esophagus, and gastrointestinal tract. As such, it is often referred to as “multi-system” disease. It can be life threatening. Scleroderma is three to four times more prevalent in women” There are only 5000 reported cases in Australia, and I am one of them. I have ‘Systemic Limited Scleroderma’ I consider myself most fortunate not to be diagnosed with ‘Diffused Scleroderma’ My journey with this disease will be a slower one.
