To all my friends and clients: You will notice a conspicuous lack of character cakes in my recent photo uploads. This is because I have been reading up on copyright infringement and have come to the decision that, going forward, I can no longer make cakes featuring copyrighted characters unless the decoration is purchased from a licensed source. I do not have, nor do I plan to obtain, a license from Disney, Marvel, Hasbro, Nickelodeon, HIT Entertainment, etc. to make cakes featuring their characters. (I actually asked Mojang and they wont sell such a license! Minecraft character likenesses can only be given away free, not bought nor sold.) LEGO bricks are OK, but minifigures are pretty iffy -- they would have to be very generic. If you have your heart set on a character cake, you may write to the copyright holder and request a one-time use permit, purchase a licensed topper, or we can put our heads together and find some way to make a cake that coordinates with your theme without violating copyright law.
