To all my friends who wished me a Happy Birthday! Thank you all so much! It was lovely seeing some many people take the time to reach out and make this day special. I was very touched to read your wishes today. I want to share one moment today with all of you...I went for a wonderful birthday lunch at a local Chinese restaurant here in Minneapolis, and at the end of the meal the waitress brought a couple of fortune cookies. I pick one and opened it and the fortune read: Remember the birthday not the age. Very apropos today since today was the big 40! [Yes, I am 40! Hard to believe but true none the less.] My facebook friends are made up of so many people....family, friends I grew up with in elementary... in high school..friends from college and grad school...teachers, mentors, colleagues...all from different walks of life, have different jobs and aspirations, people living in different counties, and in many different cities. Some of you might know one another but many do not. However each of you are connected by the fact that you all represent different moments in my life. I am very fortunate to have each of you in my life for each of you has provided a bit of influence in who I am today. For if it is true that a good man can be measured by the sum of his parts. Then I am fortunate man to be able to look out over this list of B-day wishes and actually see 40 years of history... of memorable relationships, and lifelong friendships...And while I might be many states away from family and friends to be able to physically celebrate going over the hill this year with many of you ....I am glad to be reminded that I am never actually alone. We make turning 40 such a big deal ...and yet in the grand scheme of things its just one more day. So I choose to not really see my 40th B-day as a day of growing old instead I would like to remember it as a day of thankfulness ..to celebrate a wonderful journey I have had so far in my life...to celebrate the amazing amount of joy and love I have received from those around me. And a chance for me to say to each of you how much I love each of you!
