To all my storytelling friends - I think I have set a new record for getting paid. A dinner guest was not able to make it to a special dinner in Taichung the other night. He was working with patients in his dental clinic. It was suggested that we visit the clinic to take him left-overs. But - word got out quickly that an American storyteller was at the clinic. That led to requests for an impromptu concert - when neighbors and friends came flooding into the clinic at 8 PM at night... I only had enough voice for a couple of stories after seven programs earlier in the day. But - I played some dulcimer music for the clinic visitors on request as well. My payment???? X-Rays of my Teeth and I got my teeth cleaned. The clinic was one of the nicest and most modern I have seen - I wish I could swap stories at home to cover my dental bill.
