To all of our Friends Welcome to those of you that are new to the newsletter. Due to the fire situation there is no one in the office that can post the new newsletter to the website. The link below will take you to the website and at present last weeks’ newsletter. Hopefully at some point soon we can get the new newsletter on line. New information: The Deschutes National Forest is now in Fire Precaution Level III. NO campfires, no charcoal barbeques, and no chain saw use. Smoking is permitted inside your vehicle only. You can access the fire information via a link on page one of the newsletter. The Willamette National Forest is currently in Fire Precaution Level II. Campfires are permitted. Chainsaw use is permitted between the hours of 8:00 pm and 1:00 pm. Central Oregon experienced thunder storms Wednesday and Thursday that resulted in 28 new fires, mostly on the east slope of the Cascade Range. The trail systems, East Fort Rock, Millican Valley, and Cline Buttes all received some rain showers. The bad news, most, if not all of this moisture will evaporate by the weekend and we will be back to dusty trails. I would like to thank all of the volunteers that came up to Santiam Pass on July 20th to work on trail 47. A lot was accomplished to improve the trail. Thank You!
