To all of those who think that the Ice Bucket Challenge is stupid and people are just doing it for attention, let me point a few things out. 1: Thats the whole point! The Ice Bucket Challenge is to grab attention and spread awareness about it along with donating. Because of this challenge, the whole thing has spread like wild fire. Which means more people are now hearing of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), which is also known as Lou Gehrigs Disease. And because this challenge has spread like wild fire, has raised millions of dollars. 2: Even though the rule is if you do the challenge you have to donate $10, there is nothing stopping you from donating more. And what people dont realize is, it may not seem like much, but if you get 10 people to do the challenge, thats $100 right there. It adds up. So with all of these people doing the challenge, and it spreading like wild fire, each person is donating $10 at the very least! Last I checked they had raised over $2 Million. 3: People who are suffering from ALS or know/ have known someone who has suffered from it love the fact that this challenge exists. Some are even in tears because attention is finally being drawn to this disease, and with all of the money being raised, is now fueling better research, which means they may be able to find treatment! My only complaint is that not too many people are talking about ALS and about what it is and what it does to someone. So, to all of those telling people to just donate money and to stop doing the challenges, time to re-evaluate and take a look at how people with ALS or are close to those who have it, feel about this challenge.
