To all of you that suggested that Dr. Genovese was the man to see...you were absolutely right. I have never been treated so well by a vet and staff of people my entire life. Soooo the bad news is that our horse, Faith, does indeed have navicular, along with severe arthritis in BOTH her hocks, one worse than the other. The good news is she has issues in all four legs, and doc believes thats keeping her pretty sound, most days. We got a previcox prescription (has anyone else used this?) and also rave reviews on our farrier work (thanks dad!). The doctor said that wedges, pads, and otherwise magical shoeing was far more detrimental than it is helpful for navicular horses. Mr. Brown has been saying this for years, but now we have back up from an amazingly reputable vet. It was a long trip with mixed results, but please...if you were ever hesitant about making the trip to see Dr. Genovese in Cleveland, dont be. The entire experience was exceptional.
