To all the people who fill my timeline with hundreds of motivational and “inspirational” messages over and over every day, here is a story I remember. It’s about a guy who as a young boy grew up in Eastern Africa. One day he came across an elephant baby. They gazed into each other’s eyes and from that day became inseparable playmates, running together around in the Bush and happily playing loads of fun games they invented together. Sadly a few months later, the boy and parents moved away. Then decades later he went to a zoo. As he walked around, he looked across to the elephant enclosure. An elephant looked up and stared at him intensely. Suddenly, he felt a strong sense of recognition. It was his old friend from years and years ago. He climbed over the fence into the enclosure. The elephant ran up to him excitedly, then grab him with his trunk, tossed him over his shoulder and once he landed on the ground stomped on him repeatedly. Wasn’t the same elephant.
