To answer the string of inbox messages about my thoughts on Ferguson ... Im not there. I am completely at peace with whatever the people on the ground choose to do. If they burn it to the ground ... their call. If cooler heads prevail, fine. You can miss me with the platitudes about the system, and American justice. Im not looking to change hearts and minds. I know wrong when I see it. Im not sure what the point of the conversation would be. If you dont think its wrong, thats an opinion youre entitled, and one I wont try to deconvert you from. I CAN tell you this ... as a black man, Im completely done with ANY excuses about why the lives of our sons are so completely disposable to law enforcement. I dont care about cops who feel threatened, Im not interested in how dangerous that job is. Im really not even all that interested in evidence or processes. Some things are self-evident. A trained law enforcement officer armed with a cruiser, a radio, a baton, pepper spray, a taser, and a gun has several options at his disposal. To opt for the lethal force as first resort isnt a legitimate escalation of force. The grand jury disagreed. The gathering mob disagrees with them. The rest is a matter of chips falling, consequences and repercussions. A night without further loss of life would be cute. So are butterflies.
