To be healthy, to always have a great picture/MRI, to go to the Freak LunchBox everyday when were in Halifax, to have strong kidneys and to have great hearing....Kendrics Wishes September has arrived and that means Kendrics favourite holiday, Halloween is just around the corner. We have already finished up our Halloween shopping and K is very excited about our scary costumes this year. He told me not to tell anyone what we are going to dress up as, so I will have to keep that a secret until the big day. September also means back to school for Kendric and he has officially started grade 1 and loving every minute of it. He absolutely adores his teacher and looks forward to going to school each morning. He learns so much each day and I appreciate how determined he is to keep up with his classmates, despite all his developing brain has been through these past few years, If you dream it, you can do it. K is all registered in Moncton minor basketball for the Fall and the season will start up within the next few weeks; he is very eager to get back on the court. For now, we are trying to keep active by riding our bikes around the neighbourhood and boy is he doing great with that. He still loves his go-kart bike but he has really amazed us all with his balance and ability to ride on a 2 wheeled bike. He confidently murmurs, Wow Momma, I can actually ride a real bike like the rest of the kids in the neighbourhood. Yes you can my love..You can anything, dont ever forget that, Success means having the courage, the determination and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be. And you my love are meant to be one of the greats. As a family we all participated in the annual Terry Fox run this year and K was very proud to be the youth ambassador and represent childhood cancer. He ran most of the 5 kilometre trail with lots of family and friends by his side supporting him, along with our incredible community. Kendric my sweetheart, I am positive Terry Fox would have been very honoured to have had you represent HOPE and BELIEF in the turbulent world of cancer. When K made our local news promoting the Terry Fox run he was so thrilled, he ran around the house screaming when he saw himself on television. Thank you David Bell from CTV news for making my little superhero feel extra special. September being childhood cancer awareness month keeps Super Kendrics Crusaders very busy. We are taking part in The Inside Ride event that raises awareness for childhood cancer and funding for The Lions Sick Childrens Fund here in Moncton. Thank you to all who have donated and if you havent its not too late, we have until October 3rd to raise some money for local families with sick children who need our help. We are especially particular and very passionate about the charities we choose to represent. We make sure the majority of the donations go directly to the cause it represents. The Inside Ride is very dedicated to childhood cancer and 100% of your donation will go directly towards the Lions Sick Childrens Fund, who financially assists our local children with travel expenses to various childrens hospitals that specialize in the particular treatment the child requires. We had such tremendous support from our community when Kendric was fighting through his treatments, we figure the least we can do is give back to our beautiful community and help some other precious children along the way. Kendric is suppose to have his hernia surgery this week at the IWK but with a nasty cough and cold on board, it may have to be postponed a little while to ensure his safety while under a general anesthetic. His MRI is booked for November 5th and my nerves have already set in. Once we hear the official MRI date, sleep becomes that much harder and the flashbacks occur that much more often. Cancer is out of my control, all I can do is hope and pray that this monster stays away from my little boy for good. Kendric, you are the unconditional light of my life and thank you for all you represent and teach me on a daily basis. I truly believe you are destine to change the world my love.
