To clarify the WPSD news story that has generated quite a few comments regarding Noble Park Lake and the Duck House--the stabilization project is referring to the erosion around the edge of the lake. The project will add sheet piling to the southern edge of the lake and repair the piers. The remnants of the island (which there is very little still above water) will be removed with the plan to install an aeration system close to that location to improve the water health of the southern end of the lake. The Duck House is in storage, and an Eagle Scout wants to take it on as a rehabilitation project. Once the house is repaired and looking good, the plan is to anchor it to a dock-like structure in the lake. It will be easier to maintain on a floating structure since it can be pulled in to shore. This project will accomplish several things. It will stop the bank erosion on the southern end of the lake, upgrade the sidewalks, improve the water conditions with the aeration, and provide a new Duck House focal point.
