To-day in vernacular newspapers an advertisement has appeared purported to have been published by none other than Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KIIT. Apparently, it is an apology, a lame excuse for the ugliest incident of fatal attack on journalists and media persons on the 24th afternoon on the roadside adjacent to the KISS campus in Bhubaneswar. The tribal students were armed and were being used as assailant on that day, along with hired goons. It is all available in the video clippings taken on the day of incident. Now in to-days ad-news a lurking threat is given that 22,000 tribal students future is being jeopardised by interested circles who do not want Achyuta Samanta to succeed in his social service. They might as well come to the street demanding justice. Larger issues are involved in this entire episode. 1. Is it a fact that the KIIT has hired houses that belong to IAS/IPS officers at inflated rates to keep the officials appeased ? 2. Is it a fact that the local Police Station is furnished by KIIT ? 3. Is it a fact that wives and close relatives of important officials like the DCP and political leaders are employed by the KIIT and given salary beyond what the beneficiaries deserve ? 4. Is it a fact that the tall claims made by Dr. Samanta that from KG to PG level of education is being imparted to the tribal students are all false as KISS has not received any affiliation to any Examination Board or University and the students future studying there is actually very uncertain ? It appears that 22,000 tribal youth are being groomed to demand free education by putting the government under duress. The State government and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs should perhaps, conduct an enquiry as whether the tribal students are given the minimum facility like toilets and bath rooms at least for the girl students ? The land dispute has to be sorted out by the State Government. In the name of welfare of the tribal community no illegality should be tolerated. It is a different matter that Dr. Achyuta Samant hails from a poor back ground and has been able to build an Institute and still expanding it; but all these activities must have the protection and validity under law of the land. Students can not be used as muscle power in any case, to protect the KIIT nor its founder Achyuta Samanta.
