To everyone in LA but especially Movie buffs you do not want to miss the Motion Picture Academys current exhibit HOLLYWOOD COSTUMES. In two words: Simply Astonishing! Nowhere in this lifetime will you see a bigger collection of authentic costumes from classic movies like this, all beautifully staged and glamorized with mind boggling effects, holograms, projections, art direction and lighting that will blow you away. Culled from major international collections, nothing is enclosed or behind glass and you can literally stand 3 feet from Charlie Chaplins Tramp costume, or Julie Andrews Mary Poppins. For all you main line nerds theres Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and just about every major super hero costume. Me personally I was blown away standing next to The Dude from The Big Lebowski. And...I mean...they have Mildred Pierces waitress uniform. Also (God love them) everywhere you look there are projected holograms of pages from the scripts. It runs through March 2 at the amazing deco Wilshire May Company Building on Fairfax and Wilshire. Huge kudos to UCLAs own Deborah Nadoolman who curated the entire event. P.S. .....the ruby slippers.
