To everyone who thinks they cant make a difference, or a single voice cant be heard! PLEASE READ ON! In March I, with one of my neighbours decided to take on council and attempt to have a proposed development at the rear of our properties either removed or redesigned to lessen the impact it would have on the community already here. We were told the project (despite not yet being voted on) was set in stone and pfft, good luck. We pushed on anyway. Between us we gathered submissions of objection from all our neighbours and those from adjoining complexes. In all we had 24 objections from 26 neighbours exposed to the development site. We even managed to get a couple of Councillors to come and discuss the proposed development at our house, showing them the impact they would approving. Amazingly, they agreed. Fast forward to this week, when final plans were released. WE WON! OK, the project is still going ahead, however, the perimeter of the building has shifted from 19m away to 30m away and the height of the build at our end of the site has been reduced from 8 stories (25m) in height down to 2 stories! The impact on our little community will be negligible. So to all the neysayers, stand up, be counted, you can make a difference. Let this be your proof. :)
