To my LDS friends (and those of other faiths if you so wish to know more about us). I have created a group here in facebook called ERUDITE LDS. The purpose if this group is to educate Filipino Latter-Day Saints of all things about the church and everything else that we can associate the church with, or everything else we can integrate to the church. The group greatly emphasizes acquisition of knowledge and development of intellect, promoting both spiritual and secular learning. It aims to cure fundamentalism among Latter-Day Saints and encourages them to welcome other sources of truth and information as integral part of ones spiritual development. It also attempts to identify and diminish Pharisees mindedness, which is: (1)The unnecessary enforcement and absolute observance of gospel law, emphasizing only the letter of the law and not the spirit of the law, and (2)The morbid firm hold on canonized scripture as the sole and absolute source of Gods words. It also aims to correct wrong or unnecessary practices and teachings within the church that has developed among some members in their quest to understanding church literature through their own effort, that by so doing have unconsciously lessened their reliance on the promptings of the Holy Ghost. The group also deals with debunking and demystifying old beliefs, traditions, unnecessary cultural practices, folklore, and urban legends circulating among Latter-Day Saints, and/or spreading among other faiths. The group does not necessarily speak for and in behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but it intends to defend it against criticism, prejudice, and biases by politely and lovingly explaining our beliefs, history, and doctrine, and theology. But the main purpose of this group is to build faith, develop Christ-like attributes, magnify charity as the main ornamentation of ones character. And as I would rephrase a reply from my good friend Ruth, It aims to make all truth known. Please join us in this quest and help in the Lords emphasis on acquiring knowledge.
