To my married/long-term relationship people: do you ever stop and think about what life would be like if you were suddenly single for some reason, and had to start dating again? Jared and I have been together for almost ten years, and in that time, weve developed some....quirky....habits as a couple. For instance, hell pick up my hand and hold it sweetly for a few minutes, and then start systematically biting all of my knuckles. And if he misses one, I flip out because I feel uneven. Sometimes, I lick his arm....pit. Only (mostly) when its clean, of course. He plays with my hair. A lot. I color coordinate my meals, and he knows this, and picks his veggie sides accordingly when I give him a choice. These are some of the simpler things. The less offensive things. Any of them would be cause for a decent person to take pause, and question whether or not they wanted to proceed any further with the weirdo next to them. I imagine Jared in some girls car, suddenly starting to chew on her hand. I imagine Jared with a restraining order from said girl. I imagine myself telling some guy that no, he can NOT have corn because were also having macncheese, and two yellow sides is unaccpetable. I imagine myself eating alone. I imagine him accidentally messing up someone elses hairdo, and you know that wont go over well with most women. Also, not many men go for random licking from women. Oh wait. Never mind. Now, there are more intimate.....peculiarities....to our relationship, but Ive made it this long without getting in trouble from Facebook. Id hate to mess that up now. Its funny to think about and all, but I always end up cutting the hypothetical other girl in my head.
