MOM’s BLACK BOOK in Port Clinton, OH (Morning 1) Did you hear the giggles from Ohio to Illinois? The squeals and laughter from mom’s minivan while driving through the African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton, OH could probably be heard across the country. Deep down belly laughs made this last stop on our road trip well worth the 20 mile detour en route back home. Coupons and Groupons can be found almost anywhere online making this an affordable and certainly memorable stop. I had read about possible car dings, dents, and scratches from the animals, so I was a bit nervous when first entering the park with my newer minivan, but as soon as the animals approached, all anxiety dissipated and the smile emerged. To be fair, just to play it safe, I did stay clear of the giant horns of the bison and the Fallow Deer that appeared to be jumping up to people’s car windows; but the rest of the animals approached our car gracefully, stuck their heads in our windows, and grabbed their carrots and animal feed from the cups, while the Kucharski clan giggled away. The elks seem to take a personal liking to us and the giraffe really liked our carrots! Definitely an enjoyable experience for the entire family! The African Safari Wildlife Park also offers a walk-thru safari and shows with many unique animals, including their rare white alligator. We didn’t get a chance to stop and walk around, but it looked like it would make for a great day of entertainment. Next stop, HOME!
