To my mind, intelligence validates and affirms the universe; once - TopicsExpress

To my mind, intelligence validates and affirms the universe; once we can appreciate our place in all of infinity, that validation becomes a concrete idea, and so it affirms by nature of its existence. Whether or not the originating intelligence ceases with the death of the individual does not detract from its value, because its realization remains valid after death. I consider the universe to be a product of higher intellectual design. The cosmos very well exist without our perception of it; but it is a systematic existence, devoid of feeling and driven by hard science, and mathematics, and physics, and natural laws. As a human being, I am capable of rational thoughts and I am also equipped to view the universe from an abstract perspective, because while my mind is sustained by a physical body which lives and dies by a set of rules (the same rules which govern the universe,) the mere fact that I may choose to see it differently inherently creates a tiny possibility that I may be correct. This is a slippery slope, of course - if Brandon Hodge insists that the sky is purple, that does not make it so; his claims do not validate a potential truth, because the sky is not purple. But Hodge is also not an idiot, and claim as he will, he understands that the sky is not purple - so, whether or not I perceive him to be an idiot or not, the fact that he is not an idiot cancels out any validity in his statement. But if Brandon Hodge tells me that there is no spiritual authority in this universe, he is no more correct than if I tell him that there is. Because I can rationalize a well-informed argument that God exists, regardless of Hodges purported laws of nature, and an argument of science and cold factuality. In my opinion, my own intelligence validates the potential of higher intelligence, and why shouldnt it? Clearly, if I exist and I am capable of intelligent designs all my own, then it would be arrogance on my part to assume that my intellect is the pervading source of intelligence in the universe. I choose to think that intelligence has an equal-to, or even higher purpose in the universe than the machinations of what science can explain. As I see it, intellect defines reality simply through its regard of reality. If I lived and died without ever experiencing human contact, my life would have still existed; I would have still had thoughts, and ideas, and emotions, and my life would still hold self-importance. That said, I will be the first to admit that my friends and my family have given definition to who I am; and with that definition, I have become far more than I would ever be. In my mind, love is just as true and important a component of everything that exists, because it exists. My own beliefs, and my ideals, and my passions - everything which makes me Justin Wiseman - will continue to be significant after I die and I am forgotten, because it is significant to me right now.
