To observe the 70th anniversary of this turning point in the war, Everett Red Andrews made another trip to the once war-torn landscape he escaped all those years ago. And he didnt go empty-handed: He returned with one of the parachutes that delivered life-saving packages to soldiers. Andrews saved one that would be used to make his wife Margarets wedding dress. Another was given to the Belgium family whose farmhouse provided refuge for Andrews. And a fourth was returned to a friend he made in Bastogne. Its destined for the nearby Battle of the Bulge Museum.
