To our local area Facebook fans, this is from Erica, who is organizing the Community Work Day this year: Hello Neighbors, On Saturday, May 10, The Putney School will be having its fourth annual Charitable Work Day—The Putney Schools way of contributing to the global community by donating the fruit of our labor to a cause. Last year we supported CHABHA, an organization in Rwanda that assists families ravaged by HIV/AIDS. Work with CHABHA continues on other fronts, including another trip in the planning stages to donate looms so students can raise money from creating woven goods. Learn the latest about the project in the link below. This year, we are donating to CITTA (citta.org/), an organization dedicated to providing access to proper healthcare and education to some of the most isolated and poor places in the world. They also help to support weak or obsolete economic development in those areas. CITTA works holistically with these communities to make improvements in such a way as to support a sense of initiative and gratification for the people being helped. We are working to help this cause financially through the sweat equity of our students. People from Putney and the surrounding area communities can hire students to do yard- or housework for $8 per hour for 2 to 5 hour periods in the morning and afternoon. All of the proceeds from our labor will then go to CITTA. So, in the name of generosity, please open your hearts and hire us. Also, if you could help spread the word to your neighbors and co-workers in or around the Putney, we would greatly appreciate it.
