To promote our ballet, PNB will sometimes arrange for local celebs to perform my Grandfather role for one night in NUTCRACKER. Jubal Flagg, DJ at 92.5 FM will do this on Wednesday, December 17 for the 7:30 PM performance. Friday night Steve Pool, the TV weather guy on KOMO will do it. One of his daughters are often performing in the production as well, and I think they all have been dance students at PNB school. I always must be there as a backup for any guest Grandfather. But last Friday, we hosted a mystery guest, along with a guest Grandmother. None of us were ever told who it would be, so there was lots of speculation. We always pair a guest Grandfather with a veteran Grandmother, so she can direct him around the stage during the performance. But having both grandparents as guests is unusual, for obvious reasons. The only time I can recall this being done before was when Isaac Slade of The Fray performed with his wife as Grandmother. Last Friday night we had MACKLEMORE as Grandfather and his fiance as Grandmother.
