To quote Superintendent Dr. Dargon: Some buses have been arriving to the elementary school too early. Twenty minutes before the instructional date as a matter of fact. There is not enough staff on duty to supervise them. Also State regulations say that buses cannot idle for more than five minutes. Students should not remain on the buses for a lengthy period of time. Our teachers contract states that teachers begin their day 15 minutes before the pupils instructional day. Therefore, we are trying to get our students to school at a time closer to their instructional day as the teachers are not available before that time. This is nothing new. We have never been expected to supervise students before their day begins. Why are we, the teachers, being made the scapegoats for something we have no control over? We dont make bus schedules.
