To say, that in Adam is lost and that in Jesus everyone is saved, - TopicsExpress

To say, that in Adam is lost and that in Jesus everyone is saved, is not preaching the superiority of Christ. It is merely putting Jesus on equal footing with Adam. The glory in salvation is in the exercising of choice. Adam had it. Hence so do we. Adam fell by choice. We too are saved by choice. Adam fell by disobedience and took the tree of knowledge of good and evil. We are saved when we obey the Gospel and take Jesus the tree of life. There is an element of obedience called the obedience of faith. Adams sin led the fall of the human race. Jesuss death and resurrection led to the death to the Law and not the death to Adam. Only in the obedience of the Gospel are with saved. So choice is involved. 2 Thessalonians 1:8-10 8 He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power 10 on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you. How then is Jesus greater than Adam? The context is simple. Adam brought death. Jesus brought life. That in itself is already much greater than what Adam did. Romans 5:19 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. Righteousness is always greater than sin. Paul is not saying that all men became sinners because of Adam ( while that is true) and thereafter everyone is saved by Jesus obedience.
