To start the RIZALIAN MONTH of DECEMBER 2014, I would like to share this 8-year old footage of the University of the Philippines Diliman performance of Floro Quibuyens BAYAN KO, a dramatic reading based on his book A Nation Aborted: Rizal, American Hegemony and Philippine Nationalism, performed by Kasaysayan 1 students of Xiao Chua, when he was still instructor of the UP History Department (Historyador Ng Bayan), on 10 March 2006 at the Bulwagang Sala’am of the Asian Center, Romulo Hall, UP Diliman. The original script that was written in 2002 in consultation with Quibuyens PI 100 class at the University of the Philippines Visayas-Miagao, Iloilo. It was first presented, in the form of a choral reading directed by Quibuyen, as an intermission number in the Symposium on Globalization. The event, organized by Quibuyen’s Political Science 190 class, took place at the UPV College of Fisheries Auditorium on 20 February 2002, as part of the UPV College of Arts and Sciences activities during the Social Sciences Week.
