To the Glory of the Almighty GOD Dr Myles and Pastor (Mrs) Ruth Monroe “And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me write, ‘Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them’.” – Revelation 14: 13 (KJV). About two decades ago my family acquired a book entitled ‘GOD’s Generals’. In those days just married and being in business I used to like to read the book a lot. It told of the great exploits of the men of GOD passed onto Heaven. The works they did to serve GOD through humanity, spectacular miracles. One of them that I like so much is John G. Lake (March 18, 1870 – September 16, 1935). It is told that this man believed in the raw word of GOD, the Rhema word that he literarily takes it by the letter and uses it to act. For example for three consecutive years in the town he lived the mayor of the town gave him honours because through his crusades people of the town got healed and there was no sickness in the town in those three years that followed!!! This is simply because he preached Romans 8 (especially verses 1, 2; 10, 11) to people and they believed and worked the passage in their lives! I loved reading about him so much that I bought two more books just about him. The other General I liked so much in the book is Smith Wigglesworth (8 June 1859 – 12 March 1947). I liked him because of his simple belief in the word of the Almighty. Pastor Wigglesworth’s message was ‘only believe’. I like it so much when we take the word of GOD and show to people the Word is spirit and is life – John 6: 63. I guess I can say proudly that Dr Myles Munroe (20/04/1954 – 09/11/2014) was a General of the Almighty GOD. I was at a live conference in 2003 in Wembley Arena and he used a simple situation to prove to us that the story of the widow’s mite (Luke 21: 1 – 4; Mark 12: 41 – 44) is true and can still happen as it happened in the days or our Lord Jesus Christ on earth and particularly that Luke 6: 38 is ALIVE. Calling people to come to the aid of the organisers of the conference to help pay off the hire of the conference centre Dr Myles Munroe decided to ask the givers, all lined up in front of the pulpit, to give a testimony of their giving. A widow, middle aged, gave all the £200 she just got from her job seeker’s allowance. Immediately upon hearing her Dr Munroe admonished people that if they want the words of Luke 6: 38 to come alive in their lives they should run down and give to the woman. To cut a long story short, the next morning Dr Munroe announced at the conference session that the Ushers counted the money given to the widow and it came to a total of £7200.00!!!!! Amazing! I remember that the woman fainted and was going to fall to the floor and she was quickly held by Pastor Agu Irukwu the chairman of the conference organisers and Senior Pastor of Jesus House, London. The revelation is that the widow gave her widow’s mite, her all, and men gave into her bosom – good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. When men of GOD die in mysterious circumstances like the passing into glory of Dr and Mrs Munroe we the Christian body wonder and are afraid and unbelievers seem to say what they believe is their wisdom of this world which Paul said is turning into nought (zero). But I choose to look at the word of GOD in Revelation 14: 13 that we need not fret about those who died in Christ for their works is enough to justify them. I then learn one thing immediately from this passage. That is no matter how a Christian or General of GOD dies his/her works justify him/her and they have only gone to rest from their labours here on earth. As we say down here on earth Dr and Mrs Myles Munroe may your General souls rest in perfect peace having laboured for your Saviour here on earth. We the body of Christ that you left behind to carry on the race believe you are both resting on the bosom of our Lord right now. We will miss you both greatly.
